Top Pinterest Picks Party!

I'm excited to share a few winter pins today with "Inspired Owl's Corner" and "Pawsitively Teaching" for their Pinterest linky party!! Here are three of my top faves, two that we will be doing in my class next week!

My students LOVE FROZEN, they love Science, and since it never snows in the desert they are sure to be super excited about this one!

This will be messy, but fun! With only 9 students and two aides...I think we can pull it off!

Introducing "January in a Click!" Let Me Plan Your Month!

I'm so excited to be able to start the new year with this and to be able to share it with you! My new monthly "IN A CLICK" series! It is going to help me and my aides be better organized, help me stay on top of planning, and bring planning right to your fingertips! 

At the beginning of each month I will post a monthly "IN A CLICK" document with links to the activities, crafts, recipes, and science experiments I will be doing with my students that are themed for that month to help you plan your month out! So check back each month! All you have to do is visit my blog prior to the beginning of each month and click on the link like the one below to be taken to the clickable document. Once there, each image is clickable and will take you straight to the website for each activity! Christmas Ideas You'll Want to Pin for Next Year!

First off, I hope you all had a blessed Christmas and got to make memories with your loved ones! While I know Christmas is over, I still wanted to share with you some ideas you can pin for next year!!

This was so much fun! In the past our staff has done this with one another, but this is all about elfing a classroom, not a staff member! Just fill a gift bag with goodies (I chose candy canes), set outside a classroom, knock, and run!!! You can get the free printables from "Inspired Owl's Corner" {here}. 

These photo booth calendars turned out fabulous and were sure to be a big hit when the parents opened them! I hate that I forgot to take pics of the finished product, but trust me, they are adorable and such a keepsake! You can purchase the pack from Deanna Jump {here}.

Aren't these the cutest? These were so suitable for my class, considering we live in the Mohave Desert! You can find this pattern and pack from Linda Kamp {here}.

We did our first book exchange this year and the kids loved it! Each child had to bring in a wrapped book, new or gently used. We sat in a circle and played a game similar to "hot potato." Students passed one book at a time around the circle while the music played. Once the music stopped, whoever was holding the book got to go to their seat and unwrap their new book! Will definitely be doing this every year!

Take advantage of Scholastic's dollar book sale each year and give the gift of reading! If budget allows, spruce it up a little with a dollar candy-filled candy cane from Dollar Tree!

Make cute staff gifts you know they can use!! While we as teachers tend to complain about some of the useless, cheezy gifts we get from our students....I don't know about you, but I've gotten some pretty ridiculous things even from my colleagues!

Lastly, entice good behavior and make it fun with my free Christmas clip chart! Challenge students to stay on the "nice list" or even become "santa's top!" This was such a motivator for my kiddos last week! And you can get it free {here}.

Christmas, January Math, & Winter Freebies

Wow, I can't believe all the people I see already taking down their lights and tree! I used to be that way, but I think as my kids get older and become closer to moving out (16 & 19) I seem to subconsciously want to keep it up even longer now! I think another reason is that it came so fast this year that it's hard to believe it's already over! 

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and have a fun New Year's Eve or Day planned! My husband works on New Year's Eve and Day, so we won't be doing much!  He had Christmas Day and Eve off, so I am very gracious for that! However, on New Years we will continue our traditions which are to make our black eye peas and ham hocks (although I'm the only southern girl in the house that actually eats them), watch the New Year's TV shows and the ball drop in NY, drink champagne (maybe with some OJ....have gotten to really like those Mimosas, ya know), and sing "Auld Lang Syne," blow horns, and shoot confetti at the strike of 12! I don't even care to go out on New Year's! Spending it at home with family is such a joy & tradition....and fighting the New Year's crowds.....NO THANK YOU! I'm a homebody!!!!

So back to Christmas.....what were your favorite gifts? Here are mine! 

I just love my new chevron iphone case....and my iphone...it's new too....99 cents with my AT&T upgrade! Love a deal! And absolutely loving little miss "Siri!" She's awesome!  

 My New "Thirty-One" monogrammed bag that's been on my wishlist forever!! Such a nice bag! 

Just love this notebook from my teacher colleague!!! I'm obssessed with the "Live, Laugh, Love" theme. It's all over the place! 

I also got a frying pan with a LID.....yay! Don't have a photo of that because it's dirty, but it was much needed! 

The last day of Christmas break also ended the journey for my student teacher and we all pitched in and got her a "31" monogrammed bag too, filled with TONS of supplies!

Boy would I have loved to get this as a gift when I was student teaching!!! She loved it....of course!
