Blogoversary, Monday Made It, & Manic Monday

Happy Blogoversary to me!

Wow! So much going on on this fine Monday Morning & first day of July!

One year ago TODAY I started this blog! And it has been a fabulous adventure with no regrets. So happy to be a part of the blogging community! We also have Monday Made It with Tara at 4th grade frolics, Manic Monday with Charity, AND the moment everyone's been anticipating............

No MORE GOOGLE READER!

A LOT going on today! And of course, to add to it, what would a blogoversary be without a
GIVEAWAY, right???

So first things first....Monday Made It!

So anxious to finally link up with Tara for the first time since summer began. I was hoping to have some cutesy numbers made by today to number my made its, but this will have to go on next weeks to do list.

Made It #1
I finally finished my chair! Well, almost! Still have to add the varnish. But other than that it's done!

If you're not super artsy like I'm not......this is an easy alternative for your name! Let me tell ya, this head board has so many coats of paint on it from me messing up.....shhhh! I tried it free handed, but it didn't turn out. Then I tried stickers, yuck! So I ended up purchasing these cheap, little wooden letters from Walmart and painted them and hot glued them on! I think it turned out GREAT! I'm happy with it!

Another tip for those not so artsy people out there like me!! I really wanted polka dots on my chair, but you know how hard it is for someone like me to paint those on??! So I used the end of a paint brush.....and bam.....I have polka dots! Dotted polka dots, but nonetheless!!! I have polka dots and it's super easy for those of you that need easy like me!

Love it!
Can't wait to put it my room!
 Monday Made It #2
I painted my Friendly pencil sharpener, purple to match my room! I was lucky enough to get a free sharpener from the awesome Troy at "Classroom Friendly Supplies," but it did not match my classroom. I used spray paint and it turned out great! My son is very mechanical and LOVES taking things apart, so this was the perfect project for him. It went right back together just as easily as he took it apart!

If you haven't heard about this sharpener, which I'd be surprised if you hadn't....you can see my review video {here}. And at the end of this post, you'll have the chance to win your own!
 Monday Made It #3

I finally made my crate seats that I been wanting to do since last summer when I first started seeing them!

I have yet to see anyone make them with these type of crates, but they seem to work just the same! The other ones are a little more eye appealing, but since I live in a tiny, rural community....my resources are extremely limited! A few years ago, all we had was a Walmart!! We actually have a Target now and just got a JoAnn's last year! Seriously! No Michaels, no Hobby Lobby, no IKEA. I get so envious hearing all of you talk about all those awesome stores! Now if that isn't enough.....the stores we do have, carry a limited supply, different from larger cities, because we are in a rural area! When I go to Walmarts and Targets in other areas, I can't believe how much HUGER the selection is!!!

These are the patterns I used for the fabric.

Love this one and wish I could have found this same one in the blue!

Had to settle with this one for the blue, being in the rural area and little selection, but it matches & looks nice!
I used travel pillows for mine from Walmart.....and HIGHLY SUGGEST this if you're planning to make these! The padding at JoAnn's was very thin, not much cushion, and they wanted $30 for it! These small travel pillows at Walmart fit perfectly, give a nice, rounded, and thick cushion for $3 each, which costed me $15, as apposed to $30.

I also ended up going with these fabric quarters from JoAnn's, which I also HIGHLY SUGGEST! They are literally the perfect fit for each stool! NO CUTTING whatsoever!! And you don't waste money and end up with a bunch of leftover fabric!

I took one of the crates into Home Depot, and the associate there measured and cut the plywood for me for free of charge! Done, all I had to do was pay for the plywood and that was $22! They are so nice there! Can you believe we actually have a Home Depot here....hee hee!??

And from there, it's very easy! Anyone can do it. Oh, you will need a staple gun though, if you don't have one.

Just lay in this order, and staple away! It does help to have a second person to help you hold the fabric tight, but isn't necessary.

Monday Made It #4

This is not MY Made It, but my crafty son got in on the Monday Made It this week!!!

It's twirls in the wind and looks really awesome when it's spinning!!! I love it! He did a really good job!
